Vivian D. (Polly) Pittman passed away on December 17, 2023, at the age of 99. Born in Nash County on July 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank M. and Mary F. Dozier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (R.T.) Pittman, Jr; her sister, Lurene (also at age 99); and her brother, Bill.

Polly is survived by her children, Steve Pittman and wife, Gayle, of Afton, VA and Jean Pittman of Raleigh; her brother, Daxie Dozier, of Rocky Mount; her sister, Betty Jo Powers of Clayton; two grandchildren; one niece; one nephew

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Salem Community Baptist Church, 4502 Swift Creek School Road, Whitakers with Pastor Caleb Gibson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
