ROCKY MOUNT - Barbara Taylor Groome, age 89, passed away on Friday, October13, 2023. Born in Nash County on August 21, 1934, she was the daughter of the late E.K. Taylor and Edna Minchew Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Thomas "Tom" Hobson Groome, Jr.; her brothers, Tom. C. Taylor, Alvin Ray Taylor, and E.K. "Kit" Taylor; and his sisters, Edna Earle Avent and Peggy Taylor Batchelor.

Barbara is survived by her son, Thomas Hobson Groome, III and wife, Lisa, of Florence, SC; her daughter, Vickie Lynn Groome of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister, Jackie Hicks; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Mike Stamper officiating. The family will be available to receive friends and relatives immediately following the graveside service.
