ROCKY MOUNT - Asbie Lynwood "Woody" Herrington, Jr., age 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Born in Lenoir County on August 7, 1941, he was the son of the late Asbie Lynwood Herrington, Sr. and Hattie Letha Newton Herrington. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Herrington.

Woody is survived by his wife of 61 years, Susan Russ Herrington; his daughters, Heather Moseley and husband, Howard, and Melissa Peele and husband, Chris; three grandchildren; his brother, Charlie David Herrington, Sr.; several nieces and nephews.

A service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1217 Bethlehem Road, Rocky Mount with Rev. Nathan Whitman officiating. A visitation will be from 10:00 -10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the Sanctuary of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
