ROCKY MOUNT- Spencer Morris Turner, age 92, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Born in Wilson County on December 11, 1930, he was the son of the late Wiley Ervin Turner and Effie Marie Viverette Turner.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Parker Turner; his brothers, Edwin McClees, Ervin Wayne, and Milton Earl; and his sister, Betty Jean Snyder.

Spencer is survived by his son, Glenn Turner and wife, Theresa, of Rocky Mount; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Joyce Sherrod, of Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor John Scott officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service in the parlor of Johnson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Spencer's memory to a charity of one's choice.
