WHITAKERS - Irene A. Doughty, 78, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2008. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 at Pleasure Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilson Battle officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasure Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Surviving: daughters, Hazel Silver, of Battleboro, Cynthia Lynch, of Whitakers, and Lucy Evans, of Castalia; sons, Ezzie Doughty, of Bailey and Robert Doughty, of Whitakers; sisters, Almeta Alston, of Rocky Mount, Beatrice Davis and Betty Mae Avent, both of Whitakers; brother, Will Avent, of Whitakers.

Visitation was held at Richardson Funeral Home in Nashville on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 3 - 8 p.m.
