Jewel Watkins Thomas, age 92, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Born in Sampson County, NC on January 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Mangum Watkins and Elizabeth "Lois" Blackman Weeks. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Kenneth Ray Thomas; her sisters, Joyce Jones and Betty Lou Price; and her brothers, Charles Watkins and Selby James Watkins.

Jewel is survived by her daughters, Brenda Overton Bogaz and her husband, Victor of FL, and Vickie Bulluck and her husband Phil of Battleboro; her son, Kenneth "Frog" Overton and his wife, Brenda of Tarboro; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson; her sister, Kay Fisher; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service to celebrate Jewel's life was held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Gary Wood officiating. Visitation with the family will immediately follow the graveside.
