ROCKY MOUNT - Sylvia Hale Cobb, age 76, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022. Born in Edgecombe County on July 9, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Howard Leroy Hale and Wilkie Hardy Hale. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Sidney Beach; her sister-in-law, Lydia Hale; and her granddaughter, Heather Williams.

Sylvia is survived by her husband of 32 years, Steven Douglas Cobb; her step-daughter, Candy Cobb; one step-child; Steve's sister, Shirley Joyner (Clark); her son, Duane Williams (Ekaterina); grandchilren; stepgrandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Jessica Williams; her son, John Williams (Brandy); her daughter, Tambre Thomas (Gerald); her daughter, Kristy Harper (Wade); her brothers, Andrew Hale (Bonnie) and Howard "PeeWee" Hale; her sister-in-law, Frances Beach: numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
