ROCKY MOUNT - John V. Denton, Sr., age 78, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022. Born in Halifax County on March 17, 1943, he was the son of the late Charlie Denton and Rena Morgan Denton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Harris Denton; his brother, Emily Denton; and his sister, Agnes Shephard.

John is survived by his sons, John V. "Van" Denton, Jr. and his wife, Annette, of High Point and Charles A. Denton and his wife, Donna, of Spring Hope; 8 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his brother, Douglas Denton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be announced at a later date.

A private graveside service will be held at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel of Memories

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's memory to Arlington Baptist Church, 1500 Bethlehem Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
