Spring Hope - Baylus Claiborn Wood of Spring Hope, NC passed away January 24, 2022 at the age of 101. He was a Nash County farmer and a WW11 Navy Veteran.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at Holly Grove Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m. with the Dr. Benjamin Quinn and Minister Kevin Connor officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Baylus Cade and Ethel Strickland Wood; sisters, Kiva McCarroll and Naomi Long.

He is survived by his wife of seventy-three years, Mary Leigh Edwards Wood; daughter, Barbara Boykin (Mark) of Bailey; sons, Bobby Wood (Cathy) of Spring Hope, Charles Wood of Spring Hope; grandchildren, Brian Wood (Corie), Jeromy Wood (Jennifer); great-grandchildren, Blair, Blake, Cade, and Addie Grace Wood; sisters, Rosemary Weant of High Point, NC, Joyce Ham of Wilson, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank his special care givers, Lynn Hicks and Darlene Lopez, and a special thanks to Kelly Parker and her hospice team for special care during his last days.
