MIDDLESEX - Kernis Lucas, Sr., age 90, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, in Wilson.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2021, at St. Mary's Church of Christ (DOC) in Bailey. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at William Toney's Funeral Home, Spring Hope.

He is survived by five sons, Kernis Lucas, Jr. (Velma) and Donald Lucas (Edith) both of Rocky Mount, Carvin Lucas (Janet) of Dudley, NC, Larry Lucas (Delphine) of Sims, Alexander Lucas of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Dorothy Quartey (Joe) of Knightdale and Jennifer Williams of the home; four sisters, Quilla Jones of Philadelphia. PA, Shirley Duncan and Lottie Hinnant (Dwight) of Raleigh and Cynthia McKinnon (Phillip) of Nashville; two brothers, Cleveland Lucas of Philadelphia, PA and Kenneth Lucas of Garner; two god-children, Mae Smith of Raleigh, and Denna Webb of Virginia; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law, both of Spring Hope.
