NASHVILLE - Elizabeth "Betsy" Tilghman Hicks, age 79, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021. Born in Edgecombe County on April 30, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Wilson Tilghman, Jr. and Winifred Mayo Mangum Tilghman. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Billy G. Hicks, Sr.; and her brothers, Billy Tilghman and Michael Tilghman.

Betsy is survived by her son, Billy G. Hicks, Jr. and wife, Albina of Nashville; her daughter, Deborah Hicks Griffin and husband, Kevin of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Theodore "Ted" Wilson Tilghman, III of High Point and Jay Tilghman of Flemington, NJ; her sister, Nancy Tilghman Hunt; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Saturday, October 23, 2021
