ROCKY MOUNT - Catherine Hannon Speight, age 82, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Born in Vance County on November 4, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Lacy Bragg Hannon and Mary Catherine Oakley Hannon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James A. Speight, Sr.

Catherine is survived by her sons, James "Jim" Speight, Jr. and his wife, Jeanie, of Durham, and Kevin Speight of Goldsboro; her daughters, Mary B. Wright and her husband, John, of Raeford, and Alison Knox and her husband, John, of Cocoa Beach, FL; eight grandchildren; her sister Mary Lacy Finch of Asheboro; and her brother Samuel B. Hannon of Clayton.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends just prior to the services from 10 - 11:15 .m. at the funeral home. A private family Graveside Service will be held at a later time at Pineview Cemetery.
