ROCKY MOUNT - Mark Sanders Batten, age 61, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Born in Johnston County on March 23, 1960, he was the son of the late James Ennis Batten and Mary Hagans Batten Matthews.

Mark is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara Cooke Batten; his sons, Mark "Steven" Batten (Missy) and Daniel Matthew Batten (Kate); his daughter, Morgan Anne Batten; five grandchildren; and his brothers, James Batten (Connie), Ray Batten (Beverly); Danny Batten (Brenda), Bobby Batten (Robin), and John Batten (Pam).

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 11a.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery in Nashville. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
