Matthew Dean James, 33, passed away May 31, 2021. He was born in Nash County on December 29, 1987. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Rex D. Lewis and paternal grandparents Jennis James and Nellie Cobb James.

He is survived by his father, Sonny James (fiancé Brenda Eason), mother, Robin Lewis (fiancé Scott Parker); Matthew's fiancé Heather Widener, his daughter Harper Lynn James; maternal grandmother, Joyce Pridgen Lewis; brother, Sonny Ervin James, Jr.; sister, Kirsten Hall; several uncles, aunts, cousins.

Visitation with family and friends will be Monday, June 7, 2021 from 6:00-6:45 p.m. with a memorial service to be held at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home.
