ROCKY MOUNT - James "Jim" Edward Callahan, Jr. age 96, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021. Born in Essex County, MA on October 28, 1924, he was the son of the late James Edward Callahan, Sr. and Agnes Murphy Callahan. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Ringland Callahan; his grandson, Liam Samuel Callahan; and his brother, John Francis Callahan.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Ann Jacobs and her husband, Steven of Commerce TWP., MI and Patty Callahan Koenig and her husband, Bill of Nashville; his sons, James Edward Callahan, III of Durham and William Kenneth Callahan and his wife, Carol of Fayetteville; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren,; his sister-in-law, Gloria Marie Callahan; three nieces.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Rocky Mount. Burial will follow the Mass at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral home on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 7- 8:30 p.m.
