RED OAK - Robert David "RD" Smith, age 77, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021. He was born on September 23, 1943 in Halifax County to Sam and Nellie Mae Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Chris Smith; siblings, Clifton Smith, Frances Palma, Sam Smith, Jr., Lin "Peewee" Smith, Dorothy Whitehead, Fred Smith, and Marvin Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Shearin Smith; son, Jeff Smith and wife, Michelle of Red Oak; son Greg Smith and wife, Carrie of Rocky Mount; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jamie Smith; brother, Frank Smith of Greenville; sister, Louise Faulkner of Cary; sisters-in-law, Janice Smith, Janelle Powell, Ruth Smith, Ellen Bass, Beth Hogan and husband, Dave; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021
