CASTALIA - Charlie "Dayton" Cone, Jr., age 67, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021. He was born in Nash County October 31, 1953 to Charlie Dayton and Zenith Joyner Cone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Becky Cone, and second wife and mother of his children, Debra Cone.

He is survived his daughters, Crystal Thorpe of Rocky Mount, Laura Brooke Huntington (Richard) of Wendell, and Brenda Baker (Art) of Fuquay-Varina; brother and sister, Ted Thompson of Rocky Mount and Ginny Bartholomew of Waycross, Ga.; his companion, Robbie Jackson of Nashville; five grandchildren.

A service will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Castalia Baptist Church, Castalia. Visitation is at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Dayton's Life at 11:30 a.m. Services will be live streamed via Castalia Baptist Church Facebook page.

In keeping with efforts to maintain health and safety, it should be noted that facial coverings are respectfully requested and temperature checks and hand sanitizer will be provided upon entry.
