SANDFORD - "Jack" Kelly Matthews, 70, died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Shallow Well United Church of Christ. Committal services will follow in the Shallow Well Cemetery.

Born in Lee County, Mr. Matthews was the son of the late Eddie Jack Matthews and Estis Kelly Matthews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, the late Lucy Carol Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley B. Matthews, and also by his children, Ed Matthews of Greensboro, and Lisa Ann Matthews of Sanford; He is also survived by an extended family member, Lorraine S. Lassen. Also surviving are a sister, Betty Sue Benton of Colonial Heights, Virginia. Also, two great-grandsons.

The family received friends Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
