ROCKY MOUNT - Janet Kennedy Lancaster, age 64, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020. Born in Edgecombe County on October 5, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Earl Kennedy and Hazel P. Kennedy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dempsey Lancaster, Jr.; sister, Annie Whitley; and brother; George Kennedy.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Victoria Jean Moore of Pinetops; sons, Johnathan Dempsey Lancaster of Rocky Mount and Joseph Allan Lancaster and his wife, Laura Kay of Nashville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Cathy Perry, Alvina Earp and Gerldine Surles both of Rocky Mount; brothers, James Kennedy and Tom Kennedy both of Rocky Mount; many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday, September 25, 2020 at 6 p.m. at The Church of God, Rocky Mount, with Pastor Daniel Lambert. A visitation will follow the service until 8 p.m.
