ROCKY MOUNT - George Alton Lancaster, age 79, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020. Born in Wilson County on May 21, 1941, he was the son of the late Atlas David Lancaster, Sr. and Bessie Alice Moore Lancaster Coggin. He was also preceded in death by his five brothers, William, Charles, David, A.D. Jr., and Henry; his three sisters, Dot Fagan, Alma Gaither, and Rose Foos.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Elizabeth Bass Lancaster, three brothers, John Lancaster and wife, Sue, of Goldsboro, Bobby Lancaster and wife, Susie, of Antioch, IL, Joe Lancaster and wife, Joan, of Timonium, MD; sister-in-law, Ellen Lancaster, of Greensboro; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Robin Fisher officiating. Burial will follow the service at Joyner Family Cemetery located behind the family home. The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
