ROCKY MOUNT - Roy J. Tyson, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Born in Nash County on February 13, 1931, he was the son of the late Jack Franklin Tyson and Myrtie May Lamm Tyson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Moore Tyson; and brother, Julian C. Tyson.

He is survived by his son, Michael Royce Tyson; daughters, Maribeth Tyson Wooten and husband David, and April Dawn Tyson Exum and husband Ashe; five grandchildren, one great grandson; and sister-in-law, Dolly V. Tyson.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Roy's name to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1731 Hunter Hill Rd, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
