ROCKY MOUNT - Ruby Pridgen Mitchell, age 89, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020. Born in Nash County on February 26, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William David Pridgen and Mattie Wiggins Pridgen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James L. Mitchell; and five sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her son, James Eric Mitchell of Rocky Mount; and daughters, Cathie Mitchell Hendricks and husband, William, of Rocky Mount, and Sheila Mitchell Whitley and husband, Bruce, of Pilot Mountain; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Charles Thompson, Rev. Gerald Parker, and Chaplain Ricky Forkum officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, 406 W. 34th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111.
