CASTALIA - Vernon Otto "Sonny Boy" Richardson, 80, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Social Union Baptist Church with Pastor Nathaniel Bunn officiating. Burial followed in the Oakland Cemetery.

He is survived by three daughters, Tami Harrison (Wesley) and Glynis Edmonds (Haywood), both of Nashville and Tonja Whitaker (Shawn) of Whitakers; six sisters, Peggy Mills of Rocky Mount, NC, Eloise Edwards of New Haven, CT, Mary West of Enfield, NC, Collean Williams of Littleton, NC, Clara Richardson of Rocky Mount, NC, Jeanette Richardson of Enfield, NC; four brothers, James Richardson (Viola) of Rocky Mount, NC, Tony Richardson (Deborah) of Durham, NC, Roger Richardson of Dunn, NC, Steve Richardson of Enfield, NC; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
