lara Mae Chappell, age 81, passed away early Sunday, December 22, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Chappell and two granddaughters, Clara Beth Chappell and Lisa Chappell.

She is survived by three sons, Ernie Chappell (Lisa) of Rocky Mount, Victor Chappell (Susan) of Red Oak, and Billy Chappell of Rocky Mount; siblings, Ray Horne (Mary Sue), Johnny Horne (Pat), all of Stantonsburg, and Goldie Bone (Thurman) of Elm City; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
