NASHVILLE – Geneva Joyner Baker, 90, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008. She was born September 15, 1917 to the late John and Della Weaver Joyner; In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy L. Baker; her sisters, Lessie Joyner, Maggie Latta, and Mamie Boyd; her brothers, Paul and Silas “Red” Joyner, son-in-law, Mitchell Tyson; daughter-in-law, Ginger Baker.

Survivors include her children, Jeanette Cantrell and husband Jerry of Rocky Mount, Peggy Tyson of the Coopers Community, Jerry Baker, Arnold Baker and wife Brenda of Sandy Cross, Garry Baker and wife Deborah of the Coopers Community; 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren.

The family received friends, Friday, August 1, 2008 from 7:00-8:30PM at Cornerstone Funeral Home and other times at the home of Brenda and Arnold Baker. A funeral Service was held Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
