ROCKY MOUNT - James Arthur Ricks, age 78, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019. Born in Nash County on November 16, 1940, he was the son of the late Arthur H. and Janie Blackwell Ricks. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Myrtlean Pridgen Ricks and son James Scottie Ricks.

He is survived by his son, William "Billy" H. Ricks and wife Bev Harrelson Ricks; his brother, Robert Ricks and wife Rose; and many nieces and nephews; and in-laws.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 1 - 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
