NASHVILLE - George Wayne Fortenbery, age 83, passed on Sunday, January 20, 2019. Born in Bessemer City, NC on May 24, 1935, he was the son of the late George Worth Fortenbery and Mabel Lois Beam Fortenbery.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Handsel Fortenbery; sons, Gregory Wayne Fortenbery and wife, Janet, and Jay Handsel Fortenbery and wife, Mysi; daughter, Dana Nethercutt and husband, Barry; six grandchildren; sister, Louise Beane; and brother, Frank Fortenbery and wife, Sloan.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Nashville United Methodist Church, Nashville, with the Rev. Ralph Brown officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Nashville United Methodist Church.
