Mildred Griffin Catlett, 88 passed away, Sunday, December 16, 2018. She was born in Nash County, August 31, 1930 to the late James Ernest and Elizabeth Hackney Griffin. "Nanny" spent many years keeping children in her home. She loved every one of them as her own. She also enjoyed working in her garden.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Catlett; three brothers, one sister and a grandson, John Gyalog, III.

She is survived by son, Bobby Catlett (Ruth); daughters Ann Poland (Steve), Brenda Catlett, Ellen Catlett; grandchildren Karen Perry, Julia Catlett Spearman, Philip and Greg Poland, Wesley and Scott Fields and ten great grandchildren. The family would like to say a special thank you to her caregivers for their love and dedication.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. David Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
