ROCKY MOUNT - Wilba Rae Horton Joyner, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Born in Franklin County on July 1, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Zollie Ruffin Horton and Zelma Holland Horton. She was also preceded in death by her husband of over 25 years, W. A. "Bill" Joyner; brothers, Clegg Horton and David Horton.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne Joyner Whitaker of Rocky Mount and son, Al Joyner of Rocky Mount; one grandson; one great granddaughter; sister, Harriett Lennon and husband, Burke, of Wilmington; sisters-in-law, Florence Horton of Rocky Mount and Mary Catherine Harris of Warrenton; brothers-in-law, Ed Joyner and wife, Dolly of Rocky Mount and Donley Joyner and wife, Phyllis of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Wilba Rae's Life will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Lakeside Baptist Church, 1501 Sunset Avenue, Rocky Mount with Dr. Jody Wright officiating. Visitation will follow the service in Sugg Foyer of the Kincheloe Building.
A Committal Service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Pineview Cemetery.
