ROCKY MOUNT - Ruffin Price Phillips, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Born in Wilson County on August 11, 1925, he was the son of the late James Thurman Phillips and Lossie Price Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Parker Phillips; brothers, Luther Phillips, Darrell Phillips, Al Phillips; and sisters, Louise McKeel, Nancy Wiggins, Eula Corbett.

He is survived by his children, Rick Phillips and wife, Addie, of Lexington, Wyatt Phillips and wife, Gertie, of Rocky Mount, Ellen Phillips Bass and husband Jimi, of Nashville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Edgar Phillips and wife, Janice of Greensboro; sister, Mary Alice Wells and husband, Talmage, of Rocky Mount; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Arlington Baptist Church, 1500 Bethlehem Road, Rocky Mount, with Pastor Mike Stamper officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pineview Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 7 - 9 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home in Rocky Mount.
