ROCKY MOUNT - Ferdinand "Ferdie" Carey Barkley, age 77, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018. Born in Enfield on October 24, 1940, he was the son of the late Lacy Edgar Barkley and Thelma Parker Barkley. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James "Jim" Edgar Barkley.

He is survived by his sons, Carey Lee Barkley (Margaret Arroyo) and Benjamin George Barkley; one grandson; two nephews; two nieces: mother to his two sons, Margaret Barkley.

A special gathering of family and friends to share and celebrate Ferdie's life will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 3 - 5 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ferdie's name to the Enfield Fire Department, 12719 NC-481, Enfield, NC 27823.
