James Edward Lucas of Spring Hope passed away on July 11, 2018.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. Stephen Baptist Church, Spring Hope. Interment will follow at Spring Hope Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by his wife, Luevenia W. Lucas of the home; children: Cordelia Lucas-Sherrod (Timothy) of Rocky Mount and E. Jerrold Lucas of Bailey; one grandchild; brother, Rev. William H. Lucas (Joan) of Smithfield; sisters-in-law, Effie Lucas of Knightdale, Brenda Lucas of Spring Hope, and Wilma Williams of Louisburg; several nephews; one niece and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
