Benjamin Thomas "Tom" James passed away Wednesday May 23, 2018. He was born February 14, 1931 in Martin County to the Late Gaston and Mamie Mobley James.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Brad James and his brothers Furney James and George James.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Retha Kermon James; son, Brian Thomas James and wife Tammy; one grandchild; sister, Barbara Griffin of Jamesville, NC; brother, Ted James and Wife Carolyn of Williamston; sisters-in-law, Marlene James of Williamston, Elsie Rae James of Birmingham, AL and Jean Woodcock of Holly Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held held Saturday May 26, 2018 at Englewood Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:45 with hisservice being held at 12:00 at the Church. Burial will follow the service at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount. Family will be at the residence during other times.

The family will accept flowers or contributions made to Englewood Baptist Church designated for sending children to summer camps.
