Benjamin "Ben" Frederick Carpenter, age 82, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018. He was born in Ann Arbor in Washtenaw County, MI on November 2, 1935. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Schroeder and Evelyn Carpenter Baxter Schroeder.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jeanette Bennett Carpenter of Rocky Mount; daughter, Jennifer Delano-Gemzik and her husband, Darren of Rocky Mount; son, Trevor Delano and his wife, Tiffany of Nashville; 10 grandchildren; sister, Joan Smith of Flushing, MI; brother, Walter "Wally" Schroeder of Traverse City, MI; sisters, Sharon Neurmann and her husband, Dale of Traverse City, MI, Sue Knight and her husband Scott of Traverse City, MI, and Wendy Hubble and her husband Robb of Traverse City, MI; twelve nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, with Dr. Robin Fisher officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
