Gilbert Marshall Ward, 61, passed away Friday morning, April 25, 2008 at UNC Hospital. He was born June 21, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Ward and Ruby Bass Ward; one sister, Margaret Rose Davis; three brothers, Henry Lee Ward, Jimmy Fredrick Ward and Charles “Lump” Ward.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 38 years, Patsy Ward; one daughter, Tammy Ward Calhoun and husband Ricky; two granddaughters, whom he loved very much, Serenah and Kelsey; mother-in-law, Dollie Coley. He is also survived by one brother, Bennie Ward and wife Edith and one sister, Barbara Ann Jones as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm at Johnson funerals and cremations-Sunset Avenue and other times at the home of his daughter Tammy, 119 Dalewood Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27801. A funeral service was held 11:00 am Monday, April 28, 2008 in the chapel of Johnson Funerals and Cremations-Sunset Avenue. Burial immediately followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
