September 11, 1923 - January 30, 2018

WILSON -- Bruce Lee Cooke, age 94, passed away on January 30, 2018. Born in Nash County, NC on September 11, 1923, he was the son of the late Simon Hoy and Nora Smith Cooke. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Florine B. Braswell; brothers, Leo Earl, Oliver Kermit, Simon Hoy and Avis Smith Cooke.

Bruce served during World War II and Korea, was a N.C. Highway Patrolman for 11 years, a rural mail carrier for 32 years in Hertford County and a Master Mason. He was a member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elaine Stott Cooke; nieces, Margaret Jackson, Nancy McGuire, Mary Ann Lassiter (Jim), Debbie Woodcock (Victor), Nora O'Bryne (Bill); nephews, Kermit Cooke, Cy Cooke (Peggy), Larry Cooke (Sandra), Johnny Cooke (Mickey), Ronald Cooke (Kathy), Tommy Cooke, Steve Bass (Anita).

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Shingleton Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, NC, with Dr. Benjamin Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
