Peggie Joyner Dickens, age 84, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Born in Nash County on March 17, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Jethro David Joyner and Inez Elizabeth Smith Joyner. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Joyner and Tempie Herbert Chenoweth; brother, Rev. Gordon Joyner; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Dickens Robbins; son-in-law, Robert Michael Everette, Sr.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, C.W. "Buck" Dickens, Jr.; daughter, Jamie Dickens Everette and her fiancé Jerry Barnes, Jr. of Rocky Mount; a son Charles Wesley Dickens, III and his wife Deborah of Rocky Mount; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Benvenue Baptist Church, 2464 Benvenue Road, Rocky Mount with the Pastor Mike Creekmore and Parker Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Peggie's name to Benvenue Baptist Church Building Fund, 2464 Benvenue Road, Rocky Mount, NC.
