Dorothy Sykes Gay Shearon, 97, of Spring Hope, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017.

She was born in Franklin County on May 23, 1920 to the late Thomas Wilson Gay and Lossie Lee Sykes Gay. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Shearon and a brother, Thomas Wilson Gay.

Funeral services will be conducted at Holly Grove Baptist Church, Spring Hope, Saturday December 30, 2017 at 2 p.m.. Rev. Sean Lee will conduct the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will follow the burial in Holly Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Ray Lawrence Shearon (Linda), Robert Nelson Shearon (Violet) both of Louisburg, Stephen Louis Shearon (Martha) of New Bern, David Shelton Shearon (Becky) of Knightdale, and Alice Rose Sharon Norman (Larry) of Spring Hope; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; , a sister, Lillie Mae Gay Terrell and her sister-in-law, Minnie Lou Gay.

Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Holly Grove Baptist Church, 1640 Holly Rd., Spring Hope, NC, 27882.
