Dr. Fred William Payne, Jr., age 90, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017. Born on September 2, 1927, he was the son of the late Fred William Payne Sr. and Martha Hooten Payne. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jones Payne.

He is survived by his sons, William Henderson Payne, Robert Craig Payne and wife, Marty and Christopher David Payne and wife, Christina; four grandchildren;two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Rocky Mount Memorial Park in the Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum.
