Myrtle Savage Herring, age 94, of Rocky Mount, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017. Born in Nash County on July 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John William and Rosa Robbins Savage. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Council Herring; children, Ronald Herring, Teresa Melton, and Rebecca Madigan.

She is survived by her children Kathy Parks (Joe Pate), and Larry Herring (Ellen); sons-in-law, Roger Melton and Francis Madigan; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister Dot Broughton.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Brandon Dees officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and other times at the home of Kathy Parks.
