Charles Buren Smith, age 89, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Born in Nash County on March 6, 1928, he was the son of the late James Exum Smith and Maggie Elizabeth Williams Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred F. Smith; brothers, James Exum Smith, Jr., and Tom Smith.

He is survived by his sons, Keven Smith of Greenville, Brent Smith and wife, Cathy, of Rocky Mount, and Kent Smith of Durham; six grandchildren; sister, Myra Murray of Sharpsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the home of Brent and Cathy Smith, 2820 Winstead Road, Rocky Mount. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Larry Curtis officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1 - 1:45 p.m. prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
