Esther "Jackie" O'Briant, age 89, of Whitakers, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017. Born in Mecklenburg County on June 13, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Archie Franklin McLean and Esther Bullock McLean. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Curits Day O'Briant.

She is survived by her daughters, Jane O. Jones of Rocky Mount and Carolyn O. Sapp of Whitakers; her sisters, Annie Kate Stephens of Charlotte and Shirley Saine and husband, Bill, of Charlotte; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Rocky Mount Memorial Park on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Wendy Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
