Wilfred F. (Chief) Evans, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008. A former resident of the Sandy Cross Community and Daytona Beach, Fl and currently of Rocky Mount, he was the first of 10 children born to Wilfred and Dorothy Evans on May 27, 1934 in Sharon, CN.

He is survived by his wife Gala Evans; children: daughters Linda Gupton and husband Pete of Rocky Mount, NC; Star Evans of Daytona Beach, Fl; Sherrie Poe of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sharon Evans and husband Jr. Duke of Elm City, NC; Cheryl Dufour of Fayetteville, WV; and sons Wilfred (Wil) Evans, Jr. of Daytona Beach, Fl; Mark Sheppard and Wife Beth of Fayetteville, WV; and Billy Sheppard of the home; nine grandchildren: sisters/brothers - Sally Evans, Della Evans, Susie Horton, Jerry Evans, Larry Evans, Chuck Evans, Steve Evans, and Jack Evans; and several friends and family members.

Flowers are being accepted or donations can be made in memory of Wil Evans to Community Home Care and Hospice 3124 Zebulon Rd. , Rocky Mount , NC 27804.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 28, 2008 at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Elm City with Rev. Jimmy Reavis officiating. The family received friends at the home.
