Mary Elizabeth Jacobs, 89, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 20, 2008. She was born August 4, 1918, in Nash County. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Jacobs. Mary was a longtime devoted Christian, and a faithful member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Lois Tharrington of Charlotte and Ann T. Hartley of Rocky Mount; one sister, Ruby Boulden of Nashville; one brother, Frederick Harris of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Eugene F. “Skip” Hartley II of Rocky Mount, Katurah H. Higgins of Las Vegas, NV, and David Ware of Winston Salem; four great-grandchildren, Max Higgins, Blake Ware, Avery Ware and Hank Higgins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elm Grove Baptist Church, 2365 Old Bailey Highway, Nashville, NC 27856.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Johnson Chapel of Nashville, 226 S. Barnes St., Nashville. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008, at Elm Grove Baptist Church in Nashville. Burial immediately followed at Forest Hills Cemetery, in Nashville.
