Doris Newton Daughtridge, age 91, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017. Born in Nash County, on December 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Thomas Newton and Minnie Williford Newton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. "Curly" Daughtridge; brothers, William T. Newton and Charles "Doug" Newton.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Daughtridge Coggin of Rocky Mount; brother, J. Randolph Newton of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren; a nephew and niece.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Bill Grisham officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Doris's name to Arlington Baptist Church, 1500 Bethlehem Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.
