James E. "Jim" Howell, Jr., age 75, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017. He was born in Edgecombe County on September 20, 1941 to the late Jack and Myrtle Howell. He is also predeceased in death by his brother, Mike Howell.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice C. Howell; his sisters, Jackie H. Wall and Judi H. Cockrell; numerous nieces and nephews and godchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 1825 Bethlehem Road, Rocky Mount with Dr. Jacky Raper and Rev. Sonny Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with family and friends will be from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jim's name to the First Free Will Baptist Church, Post Office Box 483, Rocky Mount, NC 27802.
