Joseph Luther Tippett, 81, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017. He was born in Halifax County, December 1, 1935 to the late W. A. and Katie Melton Tippett.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by four brothers Reo Tippett, Tom Tippett, A.A. Tippett, Mack Tippett, and two sisters Catherine Hull and Elizabeth Liverman.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie Gardner Tippett and his son, Joseph L. Tippett, Jr.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 19, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Red Oak Cemetery with Rev. Gary Wood officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
