Leona Barnes Joyner, age 97, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017. Born in Nash County on May 27, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Laura Davis Barnes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Odis Elwood Joyner; son, Jerry Wayne Joyner; daughter Nancy Carol Joyner and brothers Linwood Barnes, John D. Barnes, Hubert Barnes and William Barnes.
She is survived by her daughter, Hilda Joyner Delbridge and husband, Jerry, of Henderson; son Odis Willard Joyner and wife, Lottie of Winterville; one brother Donald Ray Barnes and wife Lois of Rocky Mount; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
Donations may be made to Westmount Volunteer Fire Department.
