Emma Joyner Pierce, age 92, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017. Born in Wilson County on May 10, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Burrel and Sally Ann Batts Joyner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Pierce; son James Pierce, grandson Danny Capps, five sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her daughters, Jean Briley (Joe) of Nashville, Rosa Nichols (Tom) of Nashville, Barbara Hendricks (Sammy) of Nashville, Rebecca Moore (Gerry) of Columbia, SC and son Billy Pierce (Sue) of Nashville; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held Monday, May 8, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
