Catherine Ann Gayle Lanier, 81, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017. She was born in Franklin County on June 6, 1935 to the late Russell and Lena Gayle. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Gilbert Lanier, and her sisters Dot McDonald and Mildred Whitfield.

She is survived by son Samuel Gilbert Lanier, Jr.; daughters Renea Lanier Proctor, Sheila Ann Lanier and adopted daughter Linda Andrews; 3 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a brother Russell Gayle, Jr.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
